Flying to Hawaii is a long process.
It was especially long for us when we left on Thursday May 14 at 1:50pm on our President's Club trip to Maui.
We flew to LA and had a three hour layover. There were about 24 people who were also flying to Maui with Spring Mobile and so we hung out in the airport and a few of us even had a Skipbo tournament. Rhett and I, of course, dominated. Well, we won one game.
We finally boarded the plane at 5:58pm LA time and flew 6 hours to Maui. Rhett and I both watched two different movies each. I tried to sleep a little but the captain, flight attendants and crazy guy two rows back on the side both knew this and did everything they could to keep me awake - coughing, announcing, asking, sneezing, laughing - you name it. So I gave up and watched movies.
Maui welcomed us with warm, moist air but no leis. Rhett was disappointed. We did have a cute old Hawaiian man waiting for us, though, with a sign that said Spring Mobile. He was very kind and full of Aloha. (That's how they say it here in Hawaii).
Our baggage finally plopped on the conveyor belt and we boarded the shuttle to take us to our resort. After another 35 minutes, we arrived at the Ka'anapali Westin Resort and got our room assignments. By the time we settled into our room with two double beds (??) and got our luggage from the bellboy (like an hour later), it was 3:30am in Utah. To say we were exhausted would be an understatement.
But we were in Maui and this idea of serious relaxing was just beginning...
